Edge- Middle School

Our Middle School Classes meet from 6:30 p.m. -  8:00 p.m. every other Tuesday, October - April.

Your child must be registered to attend. 

Our Catholic Middle School Youth Program is created for early adolescents in grades six, seven, and eight. It is designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of young adolescents in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. At this age Middle School youth are open to good and bad behaviors as well as positive and negative behaviors. Many of the values and beliefs they held as children are now being questioned and challenged. As young adolescents they are trying to figure out who they are and what they believe.

In many respects Middle School kids are on the edge because so much is going on in their lives physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. It can be a very stressful and difficult time for them and their parents. As a Catholic Community, we have the opportunity to give our Middle School youth what they need in life: Jesus, The Word, The Eucharist, and the Church!

OVERVIEW

Kick-Off

The first time we will meet will be for the Faith and Fun Day here at St. Therese. This Kick-Off event will set the mood for the whole year. It is here where the youth will be introduced to their small group in which they will be with the whole year. There will be times for the groups to get to know each other & faith filled activities. The day will also be full of wild and crazy games such as water balloon toss, 3 legged race, and lots of other outdoor games with PRIZES! The day will begin at 11:30am and end at 2:30pm. Lunch is included.   

Meetings

Throughout the year, we will meet every other Tuesday. The whole concept is to break out from the classroom mentality. Our youth have to sit in a classroom all day at school, the last thing they want to do is sit in another classroom. Also, our faith is so much more then what we can learn from a textbook. We will not only give the teens an opportunity to learn about their faith but experience it as well. 

Retreat

The retreat will give the youth a time to focus on God and their faith, a time to get away from the demands this world forces on our youth, a time to relax, have fun, and learn about our awesome God. Also, we will give them an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

A Prayer For The Teens

Good and loving Creator you are the author of all that is good and holy. We ask you to send your Holy Spirit upon our Middle School youth and bless them with your patience, inspire them with your joy, and nurture them with your compassion. In their journey to follow Jesus, encourage them with holiness and peace.

In times of confusion and uncertainty, guide them with your wisdom and truth. May they always look to you for strength and guidance. We also ask you to send your blessings upon our Middle School program, allow it to always be a source of inspiration, acceptance, and love. May all those who minister walk always in the light of Christ and bring our young people ever closer to your son Jesus. Amen.
